There is plenty of optimism surrounding the Minnesota Vikings going into the 2018 NFL season. Running back Dalvin Cook has not been shy about expressing it in training camp thus far.

Minnesota made some solid additions this offseason while maintaining its core group of players. Cook said during an appearance on NFL Total Access that the Vikings are building something special.

“It's going to be something special to watch,” Cook said of his 2018 role. “I can't wait for it.”

Cook doubled down on how excited he is for Minnesota's future.

“I'm very excited just for what we got going here,” Cook emphasized. “It's special around here. You can just feel it in the air. And I'm just happy to be a part of it.”

It is easy to see why Cook is looking forward to the future in Minnesota. The Vikings managed to make an appearance in the NFC Championship Game during his rookie year. Not to mention, he etched out a vital role for himself on this team early on.

Cook's career got off to a hot start after being selected by Minnesota in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He managed to establish himself as the team's workhorse despite joining a talented backfield that already had running backs, Jerick McKinnon and Latavius Murray.

Cook registered 354 yards and two touchdowns in just four games before going down with a torn ACL. That said, it is safe to assume he is poised for a heavy workload this season as the Vikings look to finish the job.
