Minnesota Vikings linebacker Eric Kendricks restructured his contract in order to help the Vikings sign rookie offensive lineman Garrett Bradbury on Tuesday, converting $2.15 million of his 2019 base salary of $4.15 million into a signing bonus, according to Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com.

Kendricks is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played 14 games and registered 108 tackles, a sack, a couple of interceptions, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and seven passes defended.

The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at UCLA, was originally selected by Minnesota in the second round (45th pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 14 contests during his rookie season, finishing with an impressive 92 tackles and four sacks. Then, the following year, Kendricks participated in 14 games and racked up 109 tackles, 2.5 sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, nine passes defended and a defensive touchdown.

The California native then played his first full 16-game campaign in 2016, totaling 113 stops, a sack, a pick, six passes defended and a defensive score.

Meanwhile, the Vikings selected Bradbury with the 18th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft late last month. The 23-year-old played his collegiate football at North Carolina State.

Minnesota went 8-7-1 this past season and missed the playoffs, one year after winning 13 games and making it all the way to the NFC Championship Game.

Finding success in back-to-back years has been hard to come by for the Vikings, as they have not made consecutive playoff appearances since 2009 and have not made three straight trips to the postseason since 2000.
