Throughout the quarantining process amid the coronavirus pandemic, there has been a lack of sports to watch. Despite the 2020 NFL Draft being less than three weeks away, former defensive end of the Minnesota Vikings, Jared Allen, isn't a fan of the draft.

“I know the kids being drafted are having the time of their life, . . .” he said via the Minneapolis Star Tribune, leaving the unspoken “but” hanging there, “I think the draft is probably the most boring thing to put on TV imaginable.

Back in 2004, Allen was drafted in the fourth round out of Idaho State by the Kansas City Chiefs. Even though he was selected in the fourth round, Allen went on to have a 12-year career in the NFL. Altogether, the Idaho State product tallied a total of 136 sacks in his career (12th most in NFL history).

Given that, Allen knows from experience that it doesn't matter where you are selected in the draft. The retired defensive end believes that the entire pre-draft process is a waste of time.

“Well,” Allen said, “the NFL today is known for overthinking things. We have meetings about meetings. I personally don’t think the team visits mean much. They’re still able to talk to guys on the phone. You’re going to be able to do video conferences. You have all the tape on these guys. Teams already know all the red flags. They got all the info at the combine before everything got shut down.

In a world that is yearning for some normalcy, the 2020 NFL Draft is going to happen as scheduled on April 23. While most sports fans decide to tune in, it's safe to say that Allen will preoccupy himself with something else.
