The Minnesota Vikings have not yet officially named current Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell as their new head coach. Barring any major surprises, this will all come to fruition following Super Bowl 56.

Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson is much looking forward to what O’Connell will bring to the team’s offense. As he recently noted to ProFootballTalk, Jefferson has already been doing his homework on O’Connell, which includes seeing just how the soon-to-be Vikings head coach has exploited the potential of Rams wideout Cooper Kupp.

“Honestly, I'm excited for him,” Jefferson said. “I've been hearing nothing but good things about him.

“And then, watching Cooper Kupp this whole season, he's been killing it. He's been wide-open pretty much every single play. So I'm excited for it. And this gonna be my first coach on the offensive side.”

In his pair of seasons as Rams offensive coordinator, O’Connell sure has worked to simply get the best out of Kupp. Whether it has been in favorable scheme matchups or clashes with the best cornerbacks in the NFL, Kupp has emerged as one of the more all-around wideouts in the league today.

More so, as Jefferson touched on, O'Connell will be his first head coach who has had a multitude of previous experience as an offensive coach. Whether it was Ed Orgeron at LSU or in his opening two seasons in Minnesota under now-former head coach Mike Zimmer, Jefferson has had a defensive-based head coach for the past five years of his football career.

Plenty of expectations sure will be on O’Connell to make the most out of Jefferson's versatile skill set as a receiver in the 2022 campaign.
