Incoming Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson is finding motivation in his draft spot.

The Vikings made Jefferson the No. 22 overall pick, immediately after the Philadelphia Eagles selected Jalen Reagor at No. 21. Four receivers (including Reagor) were drafted ahead of Jefferson, which does not sit well with the former LSU star.

In fact, Jefferson believes he was the best receiver in the class (via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk):

“I mean, yes,” Jefferson said Thursday on The Zach Gelb Show when asked if he was surprised by the wait. “I felt like I was the best receiver in this draft class, and being the fifth receiver off the board, it kind of was a shocker. But also having that on my shoulder going into this next season with Minnesota, I’m definitely excited to show the world what I have.”

Jefferson, the Vikings' new threat, also made a vow to punish all the teams that passed on his talents this past weekend (via Williams):

“Every single person that picked a receiver instead of me are going to pay,” Jefferson said. “I’m going to show them that I am the better receiver than the pick that they had. . . . I’m definitely excited to go into Minnesota and [compete] for [a] Super Bowl.”

Many draft analysts and fans expected the Eagles to take Jefferson. Instead, the Vikings took Jefferson with the pick they received from the Buffalo Bills as part of the Stefon Diggs trade.

Jefferson was one of the best receivers in the country last season, with 111 catches for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns. He does a lot of good work in the slot, but will also have to spend time outside on the Vikings given Adam Thielen's success in the slot.

Regardless of where he lines up for the Vikings, however, Jefferson is ready to show opposing teams they goofed by passing on him.
