The Minnesota Vikings' miraculous playoff run ended after pulling off an upset over the New Orleans Saints in the Wild Card round. The Vikings went to San Francisco to face the 49ers and were promptly sent back home, losing 27-10.

Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins said on PFT Live that he hopes the loss to the 49ers will motivate Minnesota to come back stronger in 2020, not the inverse.

“I think when you can win a playoff game, especially on the road, it does something for your confidence [and] for your team’s belief,” Cousins said. “Certainly the next week against San Fran was tough and we saw that there is another mountain to climb that we weren’t ready to climb yet. If anything, maybe that loss to San Fran is what galvanizes us going into OTAs and training camp. Knowing that we have some work to do, we can’t rest on any laurels. We have a place to go that we have proven we weren’t ready to go yet. We will take a lot from both, but there is certainly encouragement [in] winning a playoff game.”

The Vikings' win over the Saints was promising, but, as it's been for the entirety of the franchise, they struggled to get in done later in the playoffs.

However, one would be hard-pressed to assume that Minnesota isn't a playoff-caliber team in 2020. The Vikings made it further than many thought they would in 2019. With Cousins leading the ship (heading into a contract season), Minnesota will try to bounce back.
