When the Minnesota Vikings signed Kirk Cousins last offseason, the expectation was that he might be the missing piece that could get the team to the Super Bowl. Instead, the team struggled at times with Cousins under center, and they couldn't pull out a win in Week 17 and missed the playoffs.

During Super Bowl week Cousins was on The Dan Patrick Show and called the season a failure because they missed out on the playoffs.

“The short answer is no,” Cousins said via the Star Tribune. “We didn’t make the playoffs. There were high expectations and we didn’t deliver, and so I’ve been frustrated since the season ended.”

Cousins also said that he wishes the season would start today so he could start trying to make amends for the failures of the 2018 season.

“I wish the 2019 season started tomorrow,” Cousins told Patrick. “I’m ready to go and make amends for 2018. It’s been frustrating to know I have to sit here for whatever it is, seven or eight months before we get back at it.

“It has been a tough January for me. I haven’t been sleeping well, that kind of a thing, because, yeah, it just left a bad taste in my mouth the way the season finished up.”

One of the most significant issues the Vikings had in 2018 was protecting Cousins, and it's something that needs to be worked on during the offseason. If they give Cousins more time in the pocket that would be a huge help in his success.
