The Minnesota Vikings entered the 2018 NFL season as one of the favorites in the NFC, but they've stumbled out of the gate to a 1-2-1 start after their 38-31 loss to the mighty Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night. Nevertheless, Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins still has plenty of confidence that the wins will come, according to Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press.

“When I met (wide receivers Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs) in April, we threw on the field and I said, ‘These guys can play,’’’ Cousins said. “So I don’t know that that was going to change regardless of how we did in the first four games. I think that certainly we can move the football. We just got to turn it into wins.’’

While Cousins' fumble in the final minutes clinched Minnesota's defeat on Thursday night, it's tough to blame his performance for this loss. He put up a monster stat line of 422 yards and three scores for a quarterback rating of 117.3.

Of bigger concern at the moment is the defense, which was supposed to be one of the most stout units in the league. Jared Goff and Co. shredded the Vikings almost at will, and this came after a supposedly inept Buffalo Bills offense torched Minnesota's defense in the first half of that shocking upset.

The Vikings have seen double-digit first-half deficits in each of the last three games, and they're going to have to come out more prepared when they travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles next week.

“There will be a tremendous sense of urgency,’’ Cousins said. “We’ll have an edge to us in our preparation, have an edge to us during our game. You know, they’re the defending world champs.”

Minnesota is staring down a 1-3-1 start, but Cousins isn't fazed just yet.
