The Minnesota Vikings' offense put together a solid performance in their 19-9 win over the Washington Redskins on Thursday Night Football. An important factor in that was the throwing accuracy of quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Cousins concluded his performance by completing 23 of his 26 pass attempts, resulting in an 88.5 percent completion percentage and 285 passing yards. Among all quarterbacks in team history that logged at least 20 pass attempts, Cousins' completion percentage was the highest. The previous best was done by Brett Favre in 2005 as he recorded an 88 percent completion percentage.

The overall display that Cousins put together is part of what has been a strong stretch of recent performances. During his last three games leading into Week 8, he had recorded 68 completions on 90 pass attempts, resulting in a 75.6 percent completion percentage. His completions resulted in 976 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, and one interception.

Not only did Cousins set a new franchise record with his performance against the Redskins, he now has a winning record for his career. Entering this matchup, he was 39-39-2 and now he has his first winning record since beginning his career 1-0 with the Redskins.

There was a lot of criticism for Cousins early in the season when the Vikings held a 2-2 record. At that point in the season, he had played in more games than he had touchdown passes and was averaging below 200 passing yards per game with a 64.5 percent completion percentage.

The Vikings are hot on the trail of the Green Bay Packers in the NFC North standings. If Cousins can continue to produce, they should continue to be within striking distance.
