Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings walked into Lambeau Field on Sunday afternoon looking to improve to 2-0 on the season. Unfortunately, the Green Bay Packers had other plans. Minnesota ended up losing the game by a final score of 21-16.

Following the game, Cousins took full blame for the loss. He struggled to get going against a strong Green Bay defense and also ended up throwing two interceptions in the game.

In a quote shared by ESPN, Cousins shoulder the responsibility for Minnesota being unable to pull off a win.

“There's no justification,” Cousins said. “It was unacceptable, it put my team in a terrible position. We had worked so hard to get down there, had a great chance to take the lead, potentially win the game. I just took it out of our hands by making that throw.”

The throw that Cousins is talking about was an interception in the end zone by Packers' cornerback Kevin King. Cousins was running away from pressure an inexplicably decided to lob a pass into the end zone in the direction of wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Obviously, things didn't work out in the Vikings' favor.

Minnesota now sits at 1-1, while the Packers sit alone atop the NFC North division with a 2-0 record. It was a tough loss, but the Vikings will be just fine assuming they have a short memory regarding this game.

Cousins has excellent leadership skills and they showed with that quote. He knows he needed to be better. Now, it's time for him to be better next week when the Vikings face off against the Oakland Raiders.
