The Minnesota Vikings have a lot of things to be grateful for a day after Thanksgiving. One of the more surprising things the Purple People Eaters should feel blessed about concerns head coach Mike Zimmer falling short of the coach getting himself fined.

In what ended up being an entertaining game against the Detroit Lions, the Vikings saw at least three questionable calls go against them during crucial points of the game. In fact, all three of the calls opened the door for the Lions to make a rather dramatic come from behind victory.

Obviously, we all now know Detroit fell shot. Still, the inept refereeing wasn't lost on Mike Zimmer, who nearly got himself in trouble with the National Football League.

“We almost lost our composure a couple times,” Zimmer said, via PFT. “We study each crew going into the game. I told them it could be like this today. They’ve got to play clean, smart football and (long, awkward pause] . . . I shouldn’t say anything else.”

Zimmer is basically admitting that he expected the officiating to be awful on Thursday. While that might seem stunning to fans on the outside, these people live and breathe football. It isn't shocking that a coach would have an idea of what to expect from an officiating crew.

The Vikings won the game. That's the silver lining in what could have been a gloomy could. Nevertheless, at least if you're a Minnesota fan, you likely trot about Black Friday still angry over some iffy calls.
