Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins struggled in Week 2 against the Green Bay Packers, and even though a lot of the fans have given up on him, Mike Zimmer gave him a vote of confidence. Zimmer said he knows he is going to have a big game on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders and use that to jumpstart the rest of his year.

“He's going to be fine,” Zimmer said via ESPN. “We have the utmost confidence in him. He's in a good place where he's going to play good this week and continue to play good for the rest of the year.”

Cousins missed a couple of deep throws against the Packers and had a terrible interception in the end zone when the Vikings were trying to take the lead late.

After the game, Cousins took responsibility for his play and talked about how he needs to get better if he wants to continue to play in the league.

On Wednesday, Cousins did say it was nice to have a vote of confidence from Zimmer but knows it doesn't mean anything if he doesn't play better on the field.

“It's nice to be believed in,” Cousins said. “You've got to go out and earn it, though. In this league, no one's giving you anything. This isn't a charity. You've got to play well to earn peoples' confidence, so if he's saying that, it's because he's seen practice reps, he's seen game reps, he's seen what we’re capable of as an offense throwing the football. So you've got to go out and earn it.”

Cousins doesn't need to be a superstar for the Vikings especially with the way Dalvin Cook is running the ball, but he does need to make the smart decisions and hit the easy throws, something he didn't do against the Packers.
