One of the key battles during training camp for the Minnesota Vikings has been at wide receiver, and coach Mike Zimmer might have tipped his hand a little on what the team wants to do.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Zimmer said he doesn't care about how much NFL experience the reserve wide receivers have, and he is okay with having a bunch of young, inexperienced guys.

These comments come only a few days after Zimmer said the team was trying to showcase Laquon Treadwell during the teams second preseason game. Treadwell is a former first-round pick and entering the last year of his rookie contract.

He has been a major disappointment since coming to the Vikings, and all signs are pointing towards the team trading him in the next couple of weeks, or releasing him on cutdown day.

Treadwell has heard all of the talk and trade rumors and is actually embracing the role of being the underdog.

“I’ve been in this situation before and it’s actually kind of fun,” Treadwell said, via the Pioneer Press. “It’s kind of fun like being the underdog. Nothing to really expect, so when you go out there you can just play free and kind of just prove yourself. Over the last past few years I haven’t played up to that potential, so there’s other guys who weren’t drafted and have played better than me, so over time things changed. Now it’s time for me to prove myself.”

Injuries could happen which could change the team's mind, but at this point, it seems like a longshot that he will be with the team week one against the Atlanta Falcons.
