The Minnesota Vikings made waves on Monday after deciding to part ways with coach Mike Zimmer. It was a move many expected, as the Vikings have failed to reach their full potential under his command. However, it appears Zimmer was either too hurt or just didn't care to talk with his former players.

According to Darren Wolfson, it was an emotional day in Minnesota. General manager Rick Spielman, who was also fired, addressed the team before leaving. Zimmer, however, did not. It's an odd situation, as Zimmer seemed to be relatively close with the Vikings during his tenure.

Zimmer was likely too emotional to talk to the players during this time. It's hard to imagine he has any resentment towards any of them. The team liked him, even though there might have been disagreements between Zimmer and his wards near the end of the season. Regardless, the Vikings are moving on and beginning their search for a new mentor.

The Vikings have a decent roster and are close to becoming a legitimate threat in the NFC North. Most of the problems tend to lie on the defensive side of the ball. Either way, look for them to get aggressive in the offseason.

With the NFC North potentially shifting power, now is the time for the Vikings to make big moves and acquire a solid roster. With Zimmer and Spielman out of the picture, the franchise has an opportunity to become one of the best teams in the league sooner rather than later. It all comes down to who the Vikings decide to hire as the new coach.
