Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has been critical of Kirk Cousins at times. However, Zimmer had nothing but praise for Cousins after his performance against the Denver Broncos, even calling it his best game he's had with the Vikings.

Cousins brought the Vikings back from a 20-0 halftime deficit by throwing for 319 yards and three touchdowns. While there was a lot that impressed Zimmer, there was one play, in particular, that stood out. It was the deep pass to Stefon Diggs to pull Minnesota within one score.

“The [touchdown pass] he threw, the post to [Stefon] Diggs, was an outstanding ball,” Zimmer said, via the team's official website.. “Just seeing where he was going, where he was going with the football, his accuracy … It was really, really good.”

One area that Cousins has significantly improved this season has been his play during fourth quarters. Against the Broncos, he threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns along with a perfect passer rating in the fourth quarter of the Vikings' win over Denver.

“It’s been good,” Zimmer said. “That’s another area that we talked about this spring and worked on. Maybe just being in those situations help.

There has been a lot of speculation regarding whether Cousins is turning the corner and becoming the player that many thought he was capable of being. Zimmer isn't too concerned about the narrative surrounding Cousins, though.

“I don’t worry too much about the narrative,” he said. “I don’t care what they think or say. I just want him to keep playing the way he is.”

The Vikings are heading into a bye week and if they can continue their recent momentum, there is little reason to believe that they can't be a real threat come playoff time.
