The Minnesota Vikings are facing the Oakland Raiders with a good number of their players on the injured reserve. The team is looking to address the issue by signing a new wide receiver. One of their potential signings will be free agent wide receiver Jordan Matthews.

Field Yates reported that Matthews' workout with the Vikings is the most noteworthy of the players that tried out for various NFL teams this week. If everything goes well, they will have a competent receiver added to their roster.

Matthews was drafted in the second round by the Eagles in the 2014 NFL Draft. While he didn't pan out to become the star wide receiver they burned a high pick for, he was a serviceable option on offense. He's managed 3,255 receiving yards and 22 passing TDs in his five-year NFL career.

Matthews played last season back with the Eagles. He had 20 catches for 300 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games (three starts).

He signed a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers back in March, but he didn't make the final roster cut before the start of the season.

The Vikings are short on receivers behind stars Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. Aside from them, they have Chad Beebe and Bisi Johnson as the only receivers currently on the roster.

They signed Josh Doctson after releasing first-round bust Laquon Treadwell, but Doctson quickly landed on injured reserve.

With Kirk Cousins struggling — he's completed just 52 percent of his passes through two games — he could certainly use more reliable receiving weapons moving forward.
