The Minnesota Vikings have taken a new approach by making Dalvin Cook the focal point in their offense. With that being the case, Pro Football Focus suggests that Minnesota should consider trading Stefon Diggs.

Last season, the Vikings were a pass-first offense in Kirk Cousins' first season as the franchise quarterback. As a result, Diggs and Adam Thielen were heavily utilized with them combining for 215 catches, 2,394 yards, and 18 touchdowns in 2018.

Now,  just three games into this season, both receivers have seen a massive drop-off in their production on the field. Thielen has just 11 receptions for 173 yards and two touchdowns this year, but Diggs' production is even worse.

The Maryland product has accounted for just six receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown this season. In light of that, Diggs is definitely expendable in an offense that wants to impose their will in the running game. At this moment, the Vikings boast the second-best rushing offense while having the second-worst passing offense (in terms of yards).

The Vikings signed Diggs to a five-year, $72 million extension last offseason, making a trade less likely. At the same time, they can garner a decent return for a wide receiver of Diggs' caliber.

Of course, a trade involving Diggs would negatively affect the cap with there being $9 million in dead money in 2020. On the other hand, the Vikings would shed Diggs' salary for 2019 and 2020. If Diggs remains on the team until next March, his salary for 2020 is fully guaranteed.

Therefore, it is worth keeping an eye on the Vikings wide receiver as the trade deadline looms.
