The Minnesota Vikings have been optimistic about the return of running back Dalvin Cook. However, it appears his status for Week 6 is still up in the air.
Cook has been dealing with a lingering hamstring injury since Week 3. According to ESPN's Courtney Cronin, he remains questionable for Sunday's tilt versus the Arizona Cardinals:
The update on Dalvin Cook is hardly promising. However, his activity in practice this week is something to take solace in. He managed to sandwich a full practice in between two limited sessions. Regardless, his uncertain status indicates that Minnesota could be taking a cautious approach with his return.
This would certainly make sense after attempting to rush Cook back the first time around. After missing Week 3, he made his comeback versus the Los Angeles Rams. However, it became clear that he was far from 100 percent. As a result, he has been sidelined ever since.
Cook's absence has certainly been felt by the Vikings offense as a whole. Only the Arizona Cardinals have rushed for fewer yards per game than Minnesota has this season. Although quarterback Kirk Cousins has been able to dice opposing defenses through the air, they will need to develop a solid rushing attack at some point in order to help win the time of possession. If Cook is forced to miss again, the Vikings will likely rely on running back Latavius Murray as their top option.
