Currently out of job in the NFL, Robert Griffin III found some time to analyze the happenings on Day 2 of the 2021 NFL Draft with Bleacher Report. Perhaps the juiciest takeaway from that interview was his subtle shot at Minnesota Vikings signal-caller and former teammate Kirk Cousins after the NFC North team decided to pick a quarterback in the form of Kellen Mond.

Via Lorenzo Reyes of  USA TODAY:

“As you've seen, Cousins has been collecting checks there in Minnesota for a long time, taking them to 8-8, 9-7 seasons,” Griffin continued. “If he has a bad start to the year like he did last year, I could see the fans and maybe the organization leaning toward Mond if he comes in and impresses.”

A year since reports of Aaron Rodgers's resentment for the Green Bay Packers sprouted after his team took a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft, are we supposed to have another such drama in the division, this time involving the Vikings, Cousins, and Mond?

It could be remembered that Griffin and Cousins used to play for the same team, the then-named Washington Redskins. Griffin would eventually lose his job to Cousins, who then parlayed his time with the Redskins into a  titanic contract with the Vikings when he signed a three-year, $84 million deal with Minnesota in 2018. Last year, he agreed to a two-year extension worth $66 million to stay in Minnesota.

Mond is not going to snatch Cousins' starting gig in Minnesota right away despite another let-down season by the veteran quarterback in 2020. However,  the arrival of the former Texas A&M Aggies star on the team is another reason for Cousins to look over his shoulder.
