The Minnesota Vikings could be without star wide receiver Adam Thielen for their Week 8 matchup with the Washington Redskins, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. He suffered a hamstring injury on Sunday and was sidelined for the remainder of the game.

The injury occurred before Thielen ran into the wall following a 25-yard touchdown grab that he recorded during the first quarter. Some speculated at the time if he was injured as a result of colliding with the wall but that was dispelled.

“We’ll evaluate it, see where it’s at after getting an MRI, and then hopefully I’ll get ready to go,” Thielen said, via Chris Tomasson of Twin Cities Pioneer Press. “I’m optimistic that I’ll be playing, and that’s all we can do right now.”

“I just felt it, then I ran into the wall. That’s about it.”

The Vikings' offense was not hindered much by Thielen being sidelined for most of their matchup with the Detroit Lions. They managed to produce a season-high 503 total yards of offense in addition to the 42 points that they scored. The display was something that Thielen enjoyed watching from the sidelines.

“It was fun to be a part of just watching,” Thielen said. “The O-line played unbelievable and Kirk’s performance, that was unbelievable. One of the better performances from a quarterback I’ve seen.”

Thielen is having another strong season with 27 receptions for 391 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns. He is currently on pace to set a single-season career-high for receiving touchdowns as his personal best was nine during the 2018 season.

The Vikings do at least have a favorable matchup during a potential outing without Thielen considering how it will be against the 1-6 Redskins at U.S. Bank Stadium.
