Minnesota Vikings cornerback Trae Waynes has really grown into a solid player the last couple of years, but now it appears he might be on the trade block.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports who is citing league sources, Waynes is being shopped at the NFL Draft Combine this week. Just a few seasons ago the Vikings were short at cornerback, but the team has done good at drafting at that position and now there is a surplus.

The Vikings have Xavier Rhodes as the number one cornerback and Mackenzie Alexander and Holton Hill have taken big steps forward. They also drafted Mike Hughes with their first-round pick last year and before tearing his ACL he was showing glimpses of just how good of a player he can be.

It makes sense for the Vikings to shop Waynes now if they don't think they can get a long-term extension done before he hits free agency next season. The Vikings picked up the fifth-year option on Waynes, which will pay him $9 million this upcoming season, but will also make him an unrestricted free agent after the season is over.

It doesn't seem that it's a priority to get a trade done, but with the cornerback depth it makes sense for them to at least look to see what type of return they can get for him.

The Vikings need offensive line help, so if they can get a good guard or tackle in return, it might make a lot of sense to get the deal done.
