The Minnesota Vikings lost to the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, 34-26. Following the loss, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer had some choice words for the media, pointing to the referees as one of the reasons for the loss.

Vikings beat reporter Sam Ekstrom tweeted out the simple response.

The Vikings and the 49ers are two of the better rushing teams in the league. Yet, only one of them ran the ball well Sunday, San Francisco. The 49ers ran the ball for 208 yards, whereas the Vikings only mustered 68 yards on the ground. Clearly, head coach Mike Zimmer believed a lot of that was due to some holding calls that were missed.

Both San Francisco and Minnesota had five penalties enforced upon them Sunday.

During the game, the Minnesota Vikings lost All Pro running back Dalvin Cook due to injury. He had to be carted off the field after sustaining a potentially serious shoulder injury. Cook is set to have an MRI on Monday.

Minnesota was losing the battle at the line of scrimmage well before Cook was injured. The 49ers consistently got push up front, and the return of running back Elijah Mitchell was a big boost to San Francisco. Mitchell finished with 133 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. He also chipped in with five catches for another 35 yards receiving.

With the loss, the Vikings fell to 5-6 on the season, tied with the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints for the final wild card spot. However, the Vikings currently hold the tie-breaker via their conference record.
