UPDATE – 5.57 p.m. PST

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes left his team's Week 13 Monday Night Football matchup with the Seattle Seahawks with a back injury. The 29-year-old defensive back is questionable to return, the team announced.

Rhodes, a former first-round pick of the Vikings from the 2013 NFL Draft out of Florida State, has appeared in every game for Minnesota in the secondary, anchoring the passing-game defense with 47 combined tackles and two tackles for losses. The Vikings, at 8-3 and atop the NFC North standings, are ensnarled in a grueling bout with tough competition in the Seahawks, led by MVP candidate and Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson at quarterback. The Vikings could use all the help they can get in the secondary to limit Wilson's damage.

A two-time Pro-Bowl corner, Rhodes has only missed seven total regular-season games in his seven-year tenure in the NFL—all with the Twin Cities franchise. This past offseason, the 6-foot-1 one-time All-Pro first-team defensive back praised head coach Mike Zimmer's “toughness,” following the down year of the 2018 season.

“Me and him spoke on that,” Rhodes said, via the Pioneer Press. “I mean, we had a bad year as a whole team, so everybody was messing up. We all need to come together as at team and correct our mistakes. I was one of those guys being a leader on the team, not making as many plays as I did in previous years.”

Rhodes' injury status is worth keeping an eye on as Wilson prepares to carve up Minnesota's secondary on primetime television.
