The saga surrounding former Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue finally came to an end after he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a 2021 second-round pick and a conditional 2022 draft pick.

Although he had already made it clear that he did not see a long-term future in Jacksonville, he solidified that notion by reportedly taking a pay cut in order to help make it happen.

Ngakoue has since taken to Twitter to offer up his thanks to the Jaguars organization and his new fan base:

“It’s evident that my time in Jacksonville is up. But I want to say thank you to the organization for making it a home for myself for 4 years, and that I’ll never forget . That chapter is over with now. Nothing lasts forever. But I’m truly excited to start this new chapter! SKOL!”

Despite the tumultuous end to his tenure in Jacksonville, Ngakoue certainly has good reason to be excited given all that has transpired this offseason. Meanwhile, Minnesota is hoping he can provide them with plenty of bang for their buck after agreeing to a reduced deal from his initial franchise tag of $17.7 million.

Yannick Ngakoue will be fill a notable void left by defensive end Everson Griffen following his departure in free agency. The former third-round pick is looking to return to his Pro Bowl form from 2017 when he finished the year with 12.0 sacks and six forced fumbles.

Although Ngakoue's comments indicate that he will be departing on civil terms, it will certainly make for an interesting storyline when the Vikings host the Jaguars in Week 13.
