Vince Carter, a legendary Raptors figure, is shocked that Toronto decided to trade DeMar DeRozan to the San Antonio Spurs.

Here is Carter, by way of Jon Krawczynski, discussing the ordeal:

“Wow. That’s it. Simple as that. DeMar has done so many great things there. He deserves to finish his career there, if he wanted, which he did.”

Many people agree with Vince Carter's sentiment. DeRozan aided the Raptors to their best regular season win total, and is arguably one of the franchise's best players ever.

At the same time, others would argue that Toronto saw enough of itself failing in the playoffs, simply needing to make a move at some point. By bringing in disgruntled Spurs star Kawhi Leonard, that's a pretty huge get for the franchise.

Obviously, only time will tell how the history books record this trade. If the Raptors fail in the playoffs next season, or any sort of decline from the campaign before, then Leonard books for another team, DeRozan will likely be looked upon even more favorably.

Until then, we only have conjecture to play with. That and, you know, how well DeMar DeRozan operates now that he's a member of the famed Spurs.
