Flint, Michigan native JaVale McGee will be honored in his hometown for his contributions to the Golden State Warriors, during their title run this past season. A parade is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, which will be capped off by a recognition program at their city hall.

According to a piece made by the Associated Press via the Detroit Free Press, the Mayor's office has confirmed that the parade will take place at International Academy of Flint before the awarding.

“A parade is planned to honor Flint, Michigan, native JaVale McGee, who helped the Golden State Warriors win the 2017 NBA Championship.”

“Flint Mayor Karen Weaver's office says that the parade takes place Wednesday at the International Academy of Flint and will proceed to City Hall for a recognition program.”

Although he was born in Flint, McGee did not play for a local high school and instead studied at Detroit County High School and Providence Christian before moving to Chicago. He then became the starting center for Nevada, where he played in college. Her mother, Pamela, was a star at Flint Northern High School and had a successful NCAA career at USC, leading to her Hall of Fame enshrinement.

The 7-foot center had a solid campaign for the Dubs where he averaged 6.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in 9.6 minutes per game. However, his biggest contribution to his team was quality minutes night in and night out, along with being a rim protector and rebounder, which they needed badly. He re-signed with the Warriors earlier this offseason, and will have a chance to become a back-to-back champion, and possibly secure a bigger deal next summer.
