Kevin Durant has been vocal in his stand against going to the White House, so when US president Donald Trump rescinded his invitation to the Golden State Warriors, the reigning NBA Finals MVP was even happy how things turned out.

Trump withdrew his invitation to the Warriors following Stephen Curry's comments that he's against doing the traditional champions' visit during their Washington D.C. trip.

While the announcement caught the Warriors by surprise, given that they haven't even decided yet as a team whether they will go or not, Durant admitted it was actually relieving they didn't have to go through such process and meet the president.

“Nah, I never thought about going,” Durant told Carl Steward of The Mercury News.

“I just don’t agree with our president that’s in office right now. I don’t believe in what he believes in, and I’m all about equality. I’m not a real big politics guy, but I know right from wrong and I feel like I know how people are supposed to be treated. We don’t agree on those things.”

The eight-time All-Star also said that the responses of his teammates Curry and Draymond Green, as well as Coach Steve Kerr, made him “proud” to be part of the Warriors organization.

There's still no definite plan what the Warriors will do to celebrate their championship when they visit the nation's capital, but Kevin Durant is confident it will be “something creative and cool.”
