According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Golden State Warriors and Kevin Durant haven't had a breakdown in trust.

Some around the league speculated Durant was upset with the Warriors after tearing his Achilles tendon in Game 5 of the NBA Finals and won't consider re-signing with Golden State this offseason.

Wojnarowski doesn't know if Durant is going back to the Warriors, but the ESPN insider states KD and the Dubs have been talking since the Finals ended.

“If there were a breakdown in trust, you would imagine that Kevin Durant's camp and the Warriors would not be in communication. And they have been in communication,” Woj said, via Drew Shiller of NBC Sports Bay Area. “They have talked. Their ability to be able to talk through whatever potential issues there are in trying to go forward, I think those lines of communication are open.

“Does he stay? I think that conversation has yet to really happen between Durant, Rich Kleiman, Bob Myers and the organization. I do think there's gonna be a point here where they do talk before free agency starts. But there's no indication that they have been shunned by KD. I don't believe that's the case.”

Durant becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. The Warriors can offer KD a five-year deal worth around $221 million. The two-time Finals MVP will likely miss the entire 2019-20 season rehabbing from his injury.

The expectation is if Durant leaves the Dubs, he'll sign with either the New York Knicks or Brooklyn Nets with Kyrie Irving.
