Golden State Warriors veteran forward Andre Iguodala recently got together for an interview with Wealthsimple, an online investing service, and opened up about how he continues to be smart with his money throughout his career, his first major purchase, and other investment advice that people should give consideration towards using.

From early on in his career after he was selected No. 9 overall in the 2004 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, Iguodala has bought multiple investing books and made sure to get close to his teammates who were really smart with their money.

However, Iguodala admits that he did go on a big shopping spree after he got his first paycheck as a 20-year-old rookie and spent thousands of dollars on one particular item. What did he buy, you may ask?

“A whole bunch of pairs of Jordans,” Iguodala said. “I spent like two or three grand and it felt like I spent a million dollars. I didn't know how to spend money.”

Iguodala wants to be able to share his financial knowledge with many more NBA players as well so they too are able to invest their money properly and watch it grow.

“I've been able to meet interesting people who have helped me. And, in turn, I want to help out my fellow NBA players,” Iguodala said.

A two-time NBA champion with Golden State, the 34-year-old Iguodala maintains a reserve role under head coach Steve Kerr and is currently averaging 6.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game during the 2017-18 season.
