Andre Iguodala spent some time in free agency limbo in the summer, as it took some time before his camp and the Golden State Warriors agreed to a final figure and length of a new contract.

Prior to that, several teams lined up on Igoudala’s doorstep with the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, and Sacramento Kings among those who expressed intent to get the services of the 13-year veteran. It was reported that Iguodala was so close to ditching the Warriors in favor of another team, but as he noted in front of reporters, including Mark Medina of The Mercury News, his experience taught him better than forego another chance to play in the Bay Area.

It’s more about just loyalty on the part of Iguodala. The move to stretch the negotiation process was a way to squeeze as much as they can from the pockets of the Warriors. Iguodala represented then by now-Los Angeles Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka of Landmark Sports, was initially expected to net somewhere around $8-to-$12 million.

He surpassed those estimations by a wide margin, signing a three-year, $48 million deal with the defending NBA champions. Not bad for a 33-year-old forward.
