The Golden State Warriors are rapidly approaching the repeater luxury tax in 2019-20 after being over the soft cap in three out of the last four seasons. Andre Iguodala, who masterfully negotiated a steep three-year, $48 million deal in 2017 to remain with the team, hopes to align with the right people to remain with the Warriors. One of them is Stephen Curry.

“Steph Curry has pretty much been the GM, so I want to be on his good side when my contract's up,” said Iguodala, according to TNT.

Iguodala won't have to worry about his future until 2020, but the massively escalating list of obligations looks insurmountable for a team filled with All-Star caliber players.

The Warriors are bound to lock down Klay Thompson next summer, and while he is likely to take a discount to keep winning with this roster, Draymond Green isn't likely to do so in 2020 — likely pitting him against Iguodala for every cent available.

Iggy will be 36 years old and have played 16 NBA seasons by the time his contract is up, likely not as vital to the team as he has been during the last four years with the organization as the Warriors' all-around sixth man.

The Arizona product has taken on the role of defensive ace in the playoffs, shutting down perimeter stars like Chris Paul, James Harden, and even taking on LeBron James as the preferred defender in each of the last four NBA Finals.

It's unknown if Iguodala will be at that same level two years down the road, as his scoring and minutes continue to decline and his body management is higher than ever with age.
