Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr announced that Andrew Bogut will start in his return to the team, and as expected, the big man was surprised.

With DeMarcus Cousins ruled out Monday due to a sore right foot, the Warriors needed a new starting center. Rather than turn to Kevon Looney, however, Golden State opted to throw in Bogut into the starting lineup.

Bogut wasn't even supposed to join the team until later in the week, as was just signed after completing a season in his native Australia for the Sydney Kings of the NBL.

Upon hearing that he would start his first NBA game since 2017, Bogut reportedly burst out laughing.

Andrew Bogut is somewhat a Warriors legend for the role that he played on the 2014-15 championship team and the other three seasons that he spent with the franchise.

After his signing, it looked like Bogut would merely get to hitch his wagon to a well-oiled machine in Golden State, who enters the night as the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. But head coach Steve Kerr decided to toss him right into the mix, giving him the start against an old nemesis, the San Antonio Spurs.

How much Bogut will be expected to contribute and how many minutes he'll ultimately log is up in the air, but he'll get the rub of starting alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green for old times sake Monday.
