Andrew Wiggins has been having a hell of a season for the Golden State Warriors. The veteran forward who was much maligned as a “bust” early in his career has had a breakout season. With the Dubs, however, he has carved out a role as a key contributor to a true championship contender.

Because of his efforts, Andrew Wiggins was rewarded by being a starter in the 2022 NBA All-Star Game. He joins Stephen Curry as the two Warriors players who were selected as All-Star starters this season. His selection had him a bit emotional as Warriors staff congratulated him on his way to the game.

Wiggins' selection to the NBA All-Star game is a testament to how the ex-Timberwolves forward has turned around the public's perception of him. Drafted first overall in 2013, Wiggins' inconsistency had fans labeling him a “bust” in today's NBA. However, as he was coached by the Warriors' elite coaching staff, he was able to put his tools all together.

In the 2021 – 22 season, Wiggins has taken on more responsibilities for the Warriors. His 18.1 points per contest is his second-lowest scoring output since rookie season, but his efficiency and prowess on the defensive end make him a worthy selection for the All-Star Game.

Opposing fans will likely contest Wiggins' selection in the All-Star Game as a starter, but he more than deserves to be playing in the ASG the way he's been playing. His turnaround from underachieving as a first overall pick to being a key cog in a championship contending team deserves a lot of praise.
