Well, it certainly appears that Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins took Stephen A. Smith's words straight to heart.

On April 28th, the ESPN personality put Wiggins on blast, claiming that he wasn't worth more than a box of cookies due to his inconsistencies on the offensive end:

Since Smith made those comments about the Wiggins, he's gone off for the Warriors. Just take a look at these averages across the last five games:

Wiggins has been a key part in Golden State's fight for a play-in spot. He may been averaging just 18.3 points per night on the season, but his resurgence as of late couldn't come at a better time.

The Warriors are in eighth place in the Western Conference with five games to go and they will need their absolute best from Steph Curry, Wiggins, and the rest of the Warriors rotation. Meetings with the Jazz, Suns, and Grizzlies lay ahead, therefore, it's not going to be an easy conclusion to the season.

Wiggins has long been criticized throughout his career for a lack of production, but it's very clear that Smith lit a fire in his belly. Obviously, he hasn't lived up to the hype of a former number one overall pick, but the former Kansas standout is proving that he is worth a lot more than people give him credit.

Keep proving the doubters wrong, Andrew Wiggins.
