Ahead of his first full season with the Golden State Warriors, forward Andrew Wiggins revealed three goals he wants to accomplish this year.

The 2020-21 NBA season is just around the corner. The Warriors are expected to return to title contention this year with Wiggins expected to make waves. Per Drew Shiller of NBC Sports, the 25-year-old shared three things he wants to improve on:

“Yeah. I want to get my 3-point percentage up,” he told Warriors reporters Thursday. “Free throws. I want to really lock in defensively. Those are the three main things.”

In Wiggins' 2019-20 season which was split between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Warriors, the former first overall pick averaged 21.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists across 34.4 minutes per game. He shot 44.7 percent from the field and 33.2 percent from deep.

Perhaps it's safe to assume that Wiggins wants to improve on his 3-point percentage and free throws based on the lone game he played with Stephen Curry and the Warriors.

“Steph (Curry) is a player that causes a lot of attention. I played one game with him last year and I could see the difference — the open space I had because everyone was paying attention to him. He makes the game easier.”

Advanced statistics reveal that Wiggins had a not-so-stellar -1.64 defensive real plus/minus which, per ESPN, is a “player's estimated on-court impact on team defensive performance, measured in points allowed per 100 defensive possessions.” As the adage goes, defense wins championships. Wiggins, now with the Warriors, quickly identified one glaring weakness to his game.

Though Klay Thompson will be out for the rest of the season, Warriors fans still have a lot to be excited about. From the looks of it, a new and improved Wiggins is on the rise.
