The Golden State Warriors defeated the Memphis Grizzlies, 116-103, on Friday behind a 40-point game by someone not named Stephen Curry. It was his season-high for Andrew Wiggins, and the most he has scored as a member of the Dubs.

Before the game, his highest scoring output of the season was 28 points against the Utah Jazz. Without Curry in the lineup, Wiggins knew his team would need him to take on a more significant workload–and he responded big time.

“Steph is a big part of this team. He's what makes the team go. It's Steph, you know, with him being out, everybody had to step up. I just tried to be aggressive from the start,” Wiggins said of the absence of the Warriors superstar and his scoring explosion.

The Warriors received plenty of help in the absence of Curry. Jordan Poole tallied 25 points, while Damion Lee added 21 off the bench. The second time this season, three players scored 20-plus points–and it's the first time with Steph not being one of those players.

The Warriors face the Grizzlies again on Saturday as they look to go 2-0 in the back-to-back against the Ja Morant-led team. Even though Golden State won Friday's matchup convincingly, they are not going to underestimate their opponent. Coach Steve Kerr said that Green told the team that it would not be a free swing when they meet the Grizz again and that the Warriors need to bring it.

Curry did not play due to a tailbone contusion suffered on Wednesday against the Houston Rockets. It appears he will be out again, as Steve Kerr said “he is very doubtful, and it would be irresponsible to play him.”

Saturday is the final game of the Warriors' road trip before the team heads back to the Bay to face the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday.
