The Golden State Warriors have agreed on a contract extension with president of basketball operations Bob Myers.

The organization also extended president and chief operating officer Rick Welts:

This comes nearly a year after the Warriors gave head coach Steve Kerr a contract extension, now fully solidifying their building blocks as they head into their new home in the state-of-the-art Chase Center in downtown San Francisco.

Bob Myers, a two-time Executive of the Year, has been among some of the most notable front-office minds in the NBA, seamlessly transitioning from being a sports agent at Wasserman Media Group to a collaborator with the Warriors, quickly moving up the ranks as an apprentice of former general manager Larry Riley in 2011.

Myers quickly soaked in the information like a sponge, and his knowledge and rapport with players through his days as an agent made him a comforting and affable presence with players, executives and members of the coaching staff.

A former walk-on player at UCLA, Myers has been able to relate to young players, as well as veterans of the business due to his NBA savvy and an enviable natural charisma that has made many among the Warriors organization feel like he's worth trusting.

Welts has been in the NBA for 50 years, getting his start with the Seattle SuperSonics in 1969 and eventually evolving into one of the most revered basketball business minds. Credited with the creation of All-Star Weekend, among many of his ideas, West became the first prominent American sports executive to come out as openly gay.

Shortly after doing so in 2011, Welts joined the Warriors as the president and chief operating officer, a title he has retained over the last eight seasons. Welts was also inducted to the Naismith Hall of Fame as an executive in 2018.
