Golden State Warriors president Bob Myers is confident their first selection of the 2019 NBA Draft, Jordan Poole, is one that got the much-needed Draymond Green stamp of approval:

“Draymond said he likes him,” said Myers, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

However, there is reason to think there's some sarcasm behind his words.

Poole went to the University of Michigan, the in-state rival to Green's Michigan State.

It didn't take long for teammate Andre Iguodala to figure out what's coming for the young rookie:

Yet Myers remained noncommittal about assigning playing time, given that it's out of his realm of command and way too early to make such predictions:

“I can't tell you which one of the three might command the most (immediate) minutes. I don't know,” said Myers.

Myers also said a couple of times that the G League prepares a player better for the NBA than college does, which means that 39th overall selection Alen Smailagić (via Pelicans) could potentially be more NBA-ready at this point after a full season with the Santa Cruz Warriors.

The Warriors reached for Poole because they needed immediate help in one category: shooting.

Poole is a perimeter-oriented player who can create some off the dribble, and he knocked down 37% of his shots from deep on high volume last season.

His talents alone will not replace the shooting the Warriors have gotten from Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant in the last three seasons, but at least it's a start.
