Golden State Warriors fans all remember the words Patrick Beverley allegedly said to Stephen Curry during a regular season game back in 2019.

“You had the last five years. The next five years are mine,” Beverley was said to have muttered to Curry during a game against the Warriors. Now that Beverley has been traded away from the Los Angeles Clippers, not once but twice, fans were quick to bring up the ill-fated quote yet again. But Pat Bev claims that it was all cap and that he “never said this ever.”

But shortly after Patrick Beverley denied his warning against Stephen Curry and the Warriors, CJ McCollum actually confirmed it. The Portland Trail Blazers guard talked about the instance on his Pull Up podcast, where he mentions the specific incident.

“The funny part of all this is that I remember once upon a time Patrick Beverley was talking to Steph Curry during a Warriors game at half court. And he told the Steph that you know you guys had your run the next five years are mine and you kind of fast forward and life always I guess it comes full circle.”

It's possible that CJ McCollum might just be regurgitating the story that spread like wildfire as well. But Patrick Beverley has much more incentive to cover up his tracks after failing to follow through on his warning against his Warriors rival.
