Fox Sports 1 voice Colin Cowherd argued that Kevin Durant did not get nearly enough flack for leaving the Golden State Warriors this summer. The longtime sports commentator argued that other massive stars would be crucified for leaving such a high-caliber organization, but his departure was rather buried in a wave of a frenzied offseason.

“I didn't think Kevin Durant took enough heat for leaving Golden State,” he said. “We would crush Derek Jeter for leaving the star-studded Yankees. We'd mock [Tom] Brady for leaving [Bill] Bellichick. NBA media in my opinion coddles its players because stars run the league and none of the reporters wanna get ghosted by the top players, so they suck up to 'em. Everybody is petrified of offending the NBA star. They're grown men, they make their own decisions, they can handle criticism.

“This is why Adam Silver says ‘our players are not happy.' This is why therapists tell you ‘don't over-compliment your kid' — because when they face crisis in life, they won't be able to handle it.”

Unsurprisingly, Cowherd gets a bunch of things wrong and falls into being a prisoner of the moment once again in a self-aggrandizing shtick.

Durant and his now Brooklyn Nets partner Kyrie Irving were among the most talked about and criticized players in the NBA last season, both deservedly so after leaving the door open by failing to commit to their respective teams.

Part of why Durant wasn't crushed for his exit is because it was what the entire league and the majority of its fans had clamored for since he joined the Warriors in 2016, as claims of a lack of parity soon arose.

Durant's move to the East unchained a series of consequent moves, now resulting in a league of duos and many less superteams of three or more elite-caliber players. The 2014 MVP remained quiet after suffering a torn Achilles during Game 5 of the NBA Finals and did not speak to the media until Tuesday's interview with Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Tough to make a fuss about something when a player says nothing at all.

What was Cowherd waiting for? For Durant to hang in a cross to be pelted by tomatoes while exclaiming “are you not entertained?”
