Damian Jones had a breakout performance for the Golden State Warriors in their 117-116 win over the Sacramento Kings, and it's all thanks to his mom.

The 23-year-old Warriors center tied his career high in points (13) and grabbed six rebounds in the game. He was aggressive throughout, fighting for the boards, running the floor, drawing fouls and even scoring some important baskets to help the Dubs edge out the Kings.

Damian Jones also scored seven of the team's first nine points, setting the tone for the Warriors as they put an end to their first ever four-game skid under coach Steve Kerr.

The third-year center admitted that he played with a “clear mind” in the match, and he credited his mother for helping him achieve that mental state.

“I had a long conversation with my mom before she left,” Jones said, per Monte Poole of NBC Sports. “Just talking about different things. I pretty much just came to my senses and changed my mindset about things.”

Kerr also took note of Jones' aggression in the game, citing that he's glad to see the big man play with such energy especially after he struggled during their losing streak.

Consistency remains the issue for the Jones. He is averaging 5.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game for the Warriors, but it has largely been up and down for him. In fact, he already has two games this year during which he failed to get a rebound.

His change in mindset could be all that he needs to take it to the next level, and if he does maintain the same aggression he showed against the Kings, Bay Area fans know who to thank.
