Golden State Warriors talent D'Angelo Russell has become the face of Li-Ning's Way of Wade signature line, following in the footsteps of three-time NBA champion Dwyane Wade. The Golden State Warriors guard had been one of the last few sneaker free agents left on the market after his deal with Nike expired, wearing brands like Adidas, Under Armour and Puma through the early stretch before inking with Li-Ning, a sneaker and sportswear brand based in China.

Wade notably left Jordan Brand to sign with Li-Ning, a partnership that soon starter the Way of Wade signature line, one that now has several stores all across the country. Wade took Russell in consideration when it came time to decide an heir for his signature line, now that he's retired from the game.

“I stepped back and ask myself: ‘Who would I want to be the face of my brand?,” said Wade in an exclusive reveal video with B/R Kicks. “I see the way you move and the way that you like to do things and it's very similar to the way I move. For me, man, it was a no-brainer.”

CJ McCollum of the Portland Trail Blazers, also a Li-Ning athlete, was quick to congratulate Russell in his signing.

D'Angelo Russell has taken to being a style and fashion icon since coming into the league to his partnership with Bloomingdale's and a recent appearance in GQ Magazine. Wade started his own line of socks with Stance years ago and has been pushing his own sense of style for years now, making Russell a clear-cut choice to lead his signature line.
