Golden State Warriors guard D'Angelo Russell is already salivating at the chance of pairing up with one of the best shooters in league history in Stephen Curry, likely to slide into Klay Thompson's spot as he recovers from an ACL injury for the first part of the 2019-20 season.

The lefty is going into his fifth season in the league and now boasts the opportunity for yet another fresh start, though hoping to build on the All-Star season he had in 2018-19. When Thompson gets back, Russell is excited about the possibilities of having all three on the floor together:

“I think it’s like a video game,” Russell told Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype. “You got three guys who can shoot the three at a high clip. I think that’s really exciting for the fans. Threes are obviously worth more than twos at the end of the day, so I think it gives us an opportunity to win. I’m so excited, and I think we’re going to bring a lot of excitement [to the fans].”

Russell is still a ways away from the title of sharpshooter, one Curry and Thompson have well-earned after shooting over 40% in every season of their respective NBA careers. The 23-year-old shot only 37% from beyond the arc last season, but has a promising stroke that can soon improve that much more once he becomes the benefactor of more open looks.

The possibilities are endless with this offensive trio, but it will take Russell buying into Steve Kerr's system and molding his game to favor the team's strengths and a long-built culture that has seen this franchise succeed over the past five seasons.
