Golden State Warriors guard D'Angelo Russell is excited to play for head coach Steve Kerr.

Russell, who will start in the Warriors' backcourt alongside Stephen Curry while Klay Thompson recovers from an ACL injury, says Kerr “brings out the best in his players.”

“I’ve had small conversations with him, but nothing too major so far,” Russell told Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype. “We haven’t communicated about how he plans to use me. But he brings out the best in his players and puts them in roles where they can [be themselves]. I’m really excited about that. I think that’s what the league is about: opportunity. He’s a coach who allows you to do what you do best.”

Last year with the Brooklyn Nets, D'Angelo Russell had his breakout season. The lefty made his first All-Star team and led the Nets to the playoffs.

Now on the Warriors, Russell is eager to show the world he can help the Dubs maintain their championship pedigree. Russell averaged 21.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 7.0 assists last season while shooting 43.4 percent from the field, 36.9 percent from beyond the arc and 78.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Steve Kerr gets along with all of his players because he doesn't try and force them to be something they are not. Russell and Kerr will most likely get along very well, both on and off the court.
