Since news broke out that the Golden State Warriors have acquired D'Angelo Russell via a sign-and-trade deal, rumors have been popping out that the Dubs will trade the star guard eventually. Now, Russell has addressed the rumors.

Per Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Russell said that it's simply the nature of the business side of the NBA and he has come to understand it.

“You put yourself in a position to go somewhere a long time and it might not be what it is a year later.”

The Warriors will be Russell's third team in his five-year career, so it's no surprise that the 23-year-old already understands the workings of the league.

Though Russell quickly rose as the Brooklyn Nets' franchise star, he knew that his tenure with the team wasn't safe. After all, if a big-time free agent like Kyrie Irving is available in the market, any team would give up anything to lure him in.

The belief is that the Warriors simply got Russell so they may survive out in the Western Conference. They'll enter the season without Klay Thompson who's out with an ACL injury. He is expected to return at the latter part of the season or maybe in the playoffs. And when he suits up, the guard position will be filled up which would put Russell in an iffy situation.

But as always, time will only tell if Russell stays with the Warriors or not. Head coach Steve Kerr might eventually modify the Dubs' style of play to fully utilize Russell's abilities.
