The Golden State Warriors have upgraded point guard D’Angelo Russell to questionable for Wednesday's game against the Charlotte Hornets.

Russell has missed the last nine games because of a right thumb sprain.

The Warriors are 4-18 on the season. They have the worst record in the NBA.

In 10 games this season for the Warriors, Russell is averaging 24.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 6.7 assists. He's shooting 45.5 percent from the field, 35.4 percent from beyond the arc and 76.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Golden State, after going to the NBA Finals five straight seasons, is not elite anymore. Superstar guard Stephen Curry is out with a broken hand and All-Star shooting guard Klay Thompson is still rehabbing his ACL tear.

Kevin Durant, of course, is gone after signing with the Brooklyn Nets in free agency.

It appears this season in Golden State is going to be about developing Eric Paschall, Jordan Poole and Ky Bowman. The Warriors aren't expected to make some magical run and reach the playoffs if/when Curry returns from his hand injury.

Golden State has $129 million and $138 million committed to their four max players of Curry, Thompson, Draymond Green and Russell for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons, respectively. There has been talk that the Warriors could trade Russell, but so far, everyone inside of the franchise has denied that will happen.
