Klay Thompson's ACL injury in the 2019 NBA Finals started what turned out to be a two-year journey to return to the NBA. And if some have forgotten, then-Toronto Raptors sharpshooter Danny Green had a role in the injury of the Golden State Warriors star.

To recall, Green was the one who tried to block Thompson on a fastbreak play. While there's clearly no malicious intention, the Raptors guard bumping on him was a huge reason for the Warriors marksman falling awkwardly and injuring his left knee.

Of course very few blame Danny Green for the injury–and it's even rare for people to talk about it now. However, the current Philadelphia 76ers player couldn't help but regret his decision at the time.

“If I can take that play back, I would,” Green told Yahoo Sports. “No one wants to see a great player go down, and no one wants to be the cause of that. It wasn't intentional. I’m glad that he’s back. The game has missed him.”

It's hard to imagine what would have been had Klay Thompson not sustained the injury. Of course, he did suffer another serious setback in 2020 when he tore his right Achilles tendon before his expected return in 2020-21. It delayed his comeback for another year, while the Warriors suffered one of their worst seasons in recent memory.

Now that Klay is back, though, things are looking great for the Warriors as they try to return to the NBA Finals. They are the No.1 seed in the West and have the best record in the NBA at 30-9, and with Thompson back, they are expected to continue dominating once again.
