After easily disposing of the Cleveland Cavaliers in a four-game sweep in the recently-concluded NBA Finals, it was evident that the Golden State Warriors were a well-oiled machine. However, this does not appear to be the case, as veteran David West has hinted that it was not always smooth sailing for the Dubs.

To think that there is more than meets the eye with the Warriors and their triumphant quest towards back-to-back titles, is truly intriguing. However, the downside here is that West left us with a cliffhanger with practically nothing to work with. Until the real stories behind this claim comes out — if in fact, they ever do — we are left with mere rumors and speculation.

Internal team conflict would be a candidate for West's shocking behind-the-scenes revelation, as determining the alpha dog in a team filled with proven superstars could pose as a problem. The fact that the Finals Most Valuable Player race was too close to call between eventual winner Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry could definitely fall under this category. Although the team's on- and off-court chemistry seems to prove otherwise.

Coaching could be another issue as Steve Kerr has had his fair share of health issues throughout his tenure as the Warriors head coach. Notably, Kerr is entering the final year of his contract and no new deal has been finalized to date. Team owner Joe Lacob did recently state, though, that renewing the head coach's contract is a priority for the head office this summer.

For his part, West was a veteran presence on the Warriors team whose contributions were more relevant off the court. On top of being the Warriors' resident rumormonger, the 37-year-old former All-Star averaged only 3.3 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 9.7 minutes per contest off the bench this postseason.
