The Golden State Warriors could soon be getting a huge asset back after getting through the Houston Rockets in six games following Friday night's 118-113 road win in Game 6. DeMarcus Cousins, who has been sidelined since the opening minutes of Game 2 against the L.A. Clippers, could return as soon as the Western Conference Finals, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

Cousins has progressed nicely from a torn quad, which he suffered only after his first-ever playoff game, chasing a loose ball in Game 2 and consequently hitting the hardwood after tearing the muscle.

The big man has been intently focusing on his rehabilitation and seen doing one-on-one drills in recent days while the rest of the team honed into this past series.

Head coach Steve Kerr has been conservative when talking about Cousins, but lately has opened a window of possibility for his return — all while tempering expectations.

Cousins had only played 25 combined playoff minutes before suffering the injury, but his impact could be note-worthy at this stage, giving the bench-thin Warriors another layer at both ends of the floor — even if he is less than 100%.

The 6-foot-11 big dipper put up three 20-point games in his last four regular season appearances and could have a similar effect for the Warriors, who are also patiently awaiting Kevin Durant's return from a calf injury.

Golden State will have three full days to rest a starter-heavy bunch before the Western Conference Finals get started on Tuesday for Game 1, though Cousins' return could be a day-to-day process, depending on how well the next few days go in his recovery.
