DeMarcus Cousins didn’t earn many fans when he decided to sign with the Golden State Warriors for a relatively cheap price of $5.3 million for the 2018-19 season.

Social media was on fire the day it was learned by the basketball public that Cousins will take his talents to a place where additional talent seems to be the last thing that was needed. The Warriors already have four All-Stars in Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. If the Warriors dominated the rest of the league and win two championships back to back with JaVale McGee and Zaza Pachulia operating at the center position, how much better could they get with now that they have added an All-Star replacement at the five?

Social media, in all its entirety, can turn itself against Cousins, but the center seems to be the last person in the world to worry about the negativity he’s been attracting. In the trailer for an upcoming documentary by Showtime Sports with Cousins as the subject, the former Kentucky Wildcats star bared his indifference towards all the hate.

“I knew how it would be perceived from some. I don’t give a f**k. I’m saying it now that I’ve seen the reaction that I didn’t give a f**k. I knew what my ace was and we made the call.

“There’s some motherf*****s out there that’s probably ripping their hair out right now, and I love it. It’s just another test for me to overcome. I’ve been through so much adversity, if I sat there and dwelled on those moments, where the (expletive) would I be right now? I don’t need anybody feeling sorry for me. I’m a fighter, I never give up, and I’m taking this challenge head on.”

DeMarcus Cousins will not be able to play right away for the Warriors once the 2017-18 season kicks off, as he’s not expected to get his health back to 100 percent this year after injuring his Achilles back in January. In any case, the Warriors, somehow, found a way to get stronger.
